Marula Oil

My absolute favorite skin care products are available individually tomorrow! I purchased these when they were sold as a holiday set, and I can't say enough good things about these products. They are fabulous!

The key ingredient in our Midnight Oil Collection is Marula Oil. Marula Oil is produced from nuts harvested from trees growing across a wild swath of East Africa from Kenya into Tanzania by a group of people who have a strong conviction to developing sustainable living practices in a broad range of areas such as farming, energy production, and water use. The trees are plentiful. The fruit typically falls to the ground where it ferments and rots or is consumed by elephants and baboons. The fallen fruit is sometimes gathered by women to make juice, jams, and a Marula liqueur.

After the removing the fruit, the nuts are sun dried. Manual extraction of the oil-rich kernels (two or three may be inside each shell) requires tremendous force. Careful inspection during removal by hand ensures the finest quality oil. The kernels are processed in small batches by pressing and filtering the oil using high-quality stainless steel presses and filtering equipment to ensure quality and sterility. Of all the uses of the Marula, it is the oil that has brought spiritual status to the tree because of its healing properties.

Hair Health

I have always had very thin hair, and recently, since my weight loss surgery, it's gotten even worse.  I only use professional salon products and have recently added the Halo Beauty Hair Skin and Nails Booster along with 10,000 mcg Biotin a day.  Since my hair is so thin and oily it looks horrible if I don't wash it, however, I do know it's not good to wash your hair every day, so I'm no longer washing my hair at least one day a week (only if I'm not going into work).  I no longer use mouse, gel or hair spray and I've added conditioner (something I always avoided in the past because I felt it weighed my hair down too much).  I started putting a few pumps of Pomifera Oil in my hair on the days I do wash it but don't have to go to work, and on those days, I let it dry naturally.  I must say, I've noticed quite a difference since changing my hair care routine and I'm liking it!

St. Tropez Self Tan Purity Bronzing Water Face Mist

I absolutely love this stuff!  It is excellent!  I use it in the evening after my nightly skin care routine, and I wake with the perfect tan.  It doesn't streak or look orange at all.  The mist is nice and goes on evenly.

I spray on my face, neck and upper chest for a beautiful bronze glow.

I buy mine at ULTA but it is available at Sephora as well.  A little pricy at $30, but money well spent if you love a nice, natural tan, and it smells good too!

I love new beginnings!  2018 wasn't a bad year . . . a lot happened . . . so I have a lot to talk about leading into the new year . . . first and foremost - I completed the very long and exhausting process leading up to my weight loss surgery on May 4th!  Today is December 31st (7 months post op), and I'm 111 pounds down!  Only 55 away from goal and 16 away from Onderland!  (I should mention - I am 111 pounds down from my highest recorded weight on December 26th 2017 - not since surgery date.  I had lost about 30 pounds prior to surgery).

I received my acceptance letter 11/14/2016 and had my surgery 5/4/18 - quite a process indeed but so worth it!  I have no regrets, and I firmly believe having the surgery was the best decision I've ever made!  I'm confident I will reach my weight loss goal very soon - I'm already well over half way there!

We also began the process of building our house in 2018.  We've broke ground and are currently awaiting the foundation pour, which is scheduled to happen this month (January).  If all goes as planned, we will be in our new home early summer.  We are building on 5 acres in a tiny little town south of Seattle, Washington and north of Portland, Oregon.  It's perfect for us, and I am so excited to watch the house go up - like literally "watch" it go up since we are staying in my parent's 5th wheel on their property just across the way - it's perfect!  I'll be sharing lots of progress pics along the way!

I began this post in the evening of December 31st - finished and published early morning January 1st.  I was in bed by 7:30 last night - yes - I am just that boring!
